The Spitzer campaign dove into the turbulent waters of the stem cell debate,
with running mate NYS Senate Minority Leader David Paterson saying the
team would seek to borrow $1 billion over 10 years to fund stem cell research.
Paterson, blind from an infant infection, said such research would help his
condition. Quadriplegic Brooke Ellison, LI candidate for the state senate,
voiced support: "Not since the discovery of antibiotics has there been such
potential on the medical horizon."
