Brooke believes in:
- Creating housing opportunities for Long Islanders – Too many Long Islanders cannot afford to live in the neighborhoods they grew up in. We must work to ensure that housing costs are stabilized, allowing Long Islanders to stay on Long Island.
- Ensuring adequate funding for schools – Long Island’s public schools have a nationally renowned reputation. But, the quality education once found on Long Island is more and more at risk because of Albany’s inattention to local property tax burdens. Proper funding for our schools is the right choice for Long Island’s families and future.
- Developing feasible transportation solutions – The quality of life for Long Islanders is becoming diminished by traffic. Long Island’s strong road system must be complimented with transportation alternatives that will make sense for Long Island and make our lives better.
- Securing open space and environmental protections – Long Island’s environmental beauty is one of its biggest treasures. Poorly planned development and air pollution are putting our unique environmental treasure at peril. We must make sure that the environmental gifts that were given to us are available to future generations.
- Embracing the promise of stem cell research – Not since the discovery of antibiotics has there been so much promise on the medical horizon. Stem cell research is life embracing in everyway, offering cures to conditions that affect us all – from cancer to heart disease, from Parkinson’s to Alzheimer’s to spinal cord injury. Scientists across the country and around the globe are making groundbreaking discoveries everyday. With its rich history of scientific research, New York State must lead the way in this exciting new area of science.
